My desire and goal is to create the land around a home to reflect the inner design and style of the house and its owners.  I create livable exterior spaces that encourage daily activity, rejuvenation, and entertainment that extend to the corners of the property.

In these landscaped garden spaces one can expand the living spaces of the home with the use of outdoor rooms, increasing square footage of usable space and increasing value of the home. With a combination of public and private spaces, we can show what we want to the world, and have the intimate spaces we need. The livable garden is an oasis from the stressful daily lives we lead.

As primitive beings, humans were very much closer to the land and nature than we are now.  The great outdoors was our playground and nature provided nourishment and protection.  Human beings have lived outside for most of our existence.  Our present society removes us from the outdoors almost entirely.  Children and adults alike hardly ever explore outdoors on our property anymore.  We are too plugged in and busy.

I create outdoor sanctuaries where we can restore ourselves.  It has been medically proven that spending some time in nature every day reduces stress and helps in restoring good health.  By creating site-specific, eco-conscience and client-specific designs, I am helping each person get back to nature, slow down, and find some peace and solitude, as well as quality family time.

The trend in garden design right now is for the home to be the vacation destination. Pools, outdoor entertainment patios, and vegetable gardens top the popular list. The goal is creating places and things for the family to do together without the television.  Also popular is eco-education - a garden in which to teach our children how to take better care of our planet.

I know of nothing more restorative than sitting on my own garden bench at the end of a long day and being at one with the sights and sounds of my garden.  The gentle wind on my face.  The sounds of the birds.  The smell of the flowers.  The feeling of the warm sun.  This waking meditation is the core of why I make gardens.

I am interested in creating beautiful spots close to home where you can be miles away in your mind.  A sanctuary that is safe and inspiring and leaves you restored and uplifted.

Creating an atmosphere of life and healing, bounty and peace.

Everyone should have a sanctuary.

PHILOSOPHY
Anyone who has had an experience of mystery knows that there is a dimension of the universe that is not that which is available to his senses. There is a pertinent saying in one of the Upanishads: When before the beauty of a sunset or of a mountain you pause and exclaim, 'Ah,' you are participating in divinity. Such a moment of participation involves a realization of the wonder and sheer beauty of existence. People living in the world of nature experience such moments every day. They live in the recognition of something there that is much greater than the human dimension.
